Two decades of consistent Broadway work have culminated in Brandon J. Dirden's first Tony nomination.
Dirden earned recognition in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play. He plays Pozzo in the current Broadway revival of Waiting for Godot.
The production stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter and runs at the Hudson Theatre.
Dirden has performed in eight Broadway plays across the past twenty years. This marks his first nomination at the Tony Awards.
BroadwayWorld published a video interview with Dirden on June 3, 2026. In it, the actor discussed the significance of the recognition after years of stage work.
What it really means after all these years of working in theater is that I've just been on the right track, right? I mean, not that it's confirmation necessarily that I needed to use this moment as anything that solidifies my place in this [industry], but it all adds up, you know? And if you just keep your nose clean and just try to do the work, one day perhaps, you'll be having to get an opportunity to talk to [you] about being a newly minted Tony nominee! — Brandon J. Dirden, actor.
The 2026 Tony Awards nominations were also listed on the official TonyAwards.com site. Dirden's inclusion highlights his performance in the Hudson Theatre production.
BroadwayNews.com profiled the actor in a five-minute segment. It noted his nearly twenty years of Broadway appearances leading to this first nomination.
