Broadway will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Rent with a one-night-only gala concert on October 26, 2026.
The event returns to the Richard Rodgers Theatre, the site of the original production, as a benefit for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Original director Michael Greif leads the concert alongside music director Tim Weil and the full original band, including Kenny Brescia, Stephanie Mack, Jeff Potter, and Daniel A. Weiss.
Original cast members and special guests will join the performance, which marks a reunion of the creative team behind the 1996 musical that ran for 5,123 performances on Broadway.
Public ticket and sponsorship sales open at noon ET on June 1, 2026. Members of the Broadway Cares Visionary Circle, Angels Circle, and NextGen Network gain early access beginning May 12, 2026.
Jonathan wrote Rent in honor of the people he knew who were living and struggling with HIV and in honor of the many friends and contemporaries he lost to AIDS. I know he’d be proud and honored to join forces with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS to celebrate the 30th year anniversary of his milestone musical.
The concert continues a tradition of using the musical’s themes of community and resilience to raise funds for those affected by HIV and AIDS.
Few works have captured the urgency, humanity, and resilience of a generation like Rent. Jonathan Larson provided a voice to communities and reminded us all of the power of compassion, care, and showing up for one another... And through this extraordinary anniversary concert, that spirit of collaboration will translate into even more care and critical support for those who need it most today.
Playbill and BroadwayWorld first reported the concert details and creative team returns. Forbes confirmed the ticket timeline.
The gala arrives as the Broadway industry tracks ongoing box office trends and new productions prepare for the 2026-2027 season.
