Actors' Equity Announces 2026 Officer Election Results

The union filled 43 positions across Eastern, Central and Western regions in four categories following the announcement of results on May 21, 2026.

The Actors' Equity Association has announced the results of its 2026 Officer and Councilor Election, selecting leaders for 43 positions that will guide the union representing stage professionals nationwide.

The outcomes were released on May 21, 2026, and cover roles in the Eastern, Central, and Western regions. These positions represent four membership categories that include principal actors, chorus actors, stage managers, and at-large members.

Jacqueline Jarrold was elected First Vice President for principal actors. Sarah Quinn Taylor will serve as Second Vice President representing chorus actors.

Leslie Sears assumes the role of Third Vice President for stage managers. Jeff Applegate was elected without opposition as Secretary Treasurer.

The new officers hold four-year terms in most cases, with one noted two-year term among the positions. All elected individuals begin their duties immediately and will serve on the National Council along with corresponding regional boards.

Actors' Equity represents roughly 51,000 members who work in professional theatre productions throughout the United States. The election ensures continued representation from different segments of the live performance community.

The Eastern Region includes key theatre centers such as New York. The Central Region draws from midwestern states while the Western Region covers California and additional western locations.

These leadership selections occur as the theatre industry manages contract discussions and member support programs. The union maintains collective bargaining agreements that affect working conditions on Broadway and in regional venues.

Voting took place among eligible members to choose representatives who reflect the diverse needs of actors and stage managers. The process supports the organization's ongoing advocacy efforts.

Full lists of all elected councilors in each region and category appear in the official announcement issued by the union. Industry participants can review the complete results through Actors' Equity communications channels.

The newly seated officials will join existing leadership to address priorities including safety standards, compensation structures, and professional development resources for members.

The election process highlights the democratic nature of the union's governance structure. Members from various backgrounds participate actively to ensure their voices are heard in decision making processes.

With these new leaders in place the association is well positioned to continue its mission of protecting the rights and interests of theatre professionals across the country.

Regional representation remains a cornerstone of the organization's approach allowing for tailored responses to local industry challenges and opportunities.
