West End ticket prices have dropped below their pre-pandemic average when measured in real terms.
The Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre released the official 2025 box office figures on May 21, 2026. The data covers every paid ticket sold at member venues across London.
The median price paid by audiences stayed at £56 for the second consecutive year. This represents a real-terms fall of around 3.4%.
Average West End ticket prices stand 8.9% lower than in 2019 after inflation adjustments. They also sit below 2016 levels even at the higher end of the scale.
Seventy-four percent of all tickets sold cost under £85. Total attendances reached 17.64 million across the year and generated £1.084 billion in revenue.
Claire Walker and Hannah Essex, Co-Chief Executives of the Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre, addressed the pressures on venues.
"Theatres are doing more with less – and the strain is showing. Rising costs, shrinking support and ageing infrastructure are putting the sector under unsustainable pressure." — Claire Walker and Hannah Essex, Co-Chief Executives of the Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre.
The report draws from comprehensive records rather than advertised top prices. It shows most purchases remain concentrated in the mid-price range despite broader economic conditions.
These figures reflect actual amounts audiences paid throughout 2025. They provide a clear view of pricing trends across the entire West End market.
