Schmigadoon! will soon tour major North American cities while opening its script to theaters and schools around the world.
The comedy musical, nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical as the season's most nominated production, revealed plans for a tour launching in September 2027. The first stop is set for Baltimore's Hippodrome Theatre, followed by engagements in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.
Theatrical Rights Worldwide acquired licensing rights for Schmigadoon! in over 60 countries. Availability extends to professional companies, regional theaters, amateur groups, community productions, and educational settings with middle and high school versions.
Broadway producers issued a joint statement on the expansion.
"Since we first set out to bring ‘Schmigadoon!’ to the stage, our goal has always been to create a production that could be enjoyed on Broadway and beyond... Christopher Gattelli and his incredible team of designers have built this show with craft and care in a way that will allow communities across all 50 states to experience the exact same joy, scale and theatrical magic audiences are currently embracing on 41st Street. We’re also thrilled to place the show in the hands of theatre groups nationwide through our licensing partnership with TRW, ensuring that ‘Schmigadoon!’ can continue bringing people together through the joy of live theatre for decades to come."

The producers emphasized how the show's construction supports replication in various venues without losing its core appeal. The tour launch date allows time for preparation, ensuring high production standards match the Broadway original. The extensive licensing network positions the show for long-term presence in the theater community.
This move follows strong interest generated by the Broadway run. The licensing catalog addition by TRW opens pathways for countless performances beyond the commercial theater circuit. Reports from Broadway News, Playbill, and Deadline confirmed the details of the May 20, 2026 announcement, highlighting both the tour cities and the international scope of the rights deal.
Audiences in cities like Chicago and Los Angeles can anticipate the full production values seen on Broadway when the tour arrives. Meanwhile, school groups will benefit from adapted materials that maintain the show's wit and musical numbers. The partnership ensures that Schmigadoon! reaches diverse communities, fostering local theater participation across the United States and beyond.
