Caissie Levy received her first Tony Award nomination after two decades on Broadway.
The actress earned the recognition for her performance as Mother in the Lincoln Center Theater revival of Ragtime at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. The production received 11 Tony nominations total, the highest number for any revival this season.
Levy previously appeared as Elsa in Frozen and as Elphaba in Wicked. Her career began around 2006.
She learned of the nomination on May 5 while managing a typical morning routine. "I got my kids to school with my husband and then we raced back home to try to find the right channel to watch it on," Levy said. "We got there in the nick of time. We watched it and immediately FaceTimed my parents in Canada."
The revival also earned nominations for Joshua Henry and Brandon Uranowitz in leading roles. Levy spoke about the collective achievement during an interview with Broadway.com on May 27.
She described the nomination as validation from peers across the industry. The announcement came from Lincoln Center Theater the same morning nominations were revealed.
