Broadway audiences will encounter a burst of color when they open their programs this June as Playbill issues its annual Pride-dedicated edition.
The 2026 issue features rainbow versions of the iconic yellow logo on covers for participating Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. These special Pridebills mark the continuation of a yearly practice that alters the publication's standard design to mark Pride Month.
Playbill stated in its 2026 Media Kit that the company is proud to celebrate Pride Month with an array of multi-media coverage beginning with the annual June Pride-dedicated Issue. The organization described itself as a fierce supporter and ally to the LGBTQIA+ community.
Alongside the physical playbills, Playbill will launch a dedicated PRIDE 2026 section across its digital properties. The section will include original editorial pieces, photographs, and video content. A multi-media campaign is scheduled to run throughout the month.
The issue reaches a circulation of 1.4 million readers. Past seasons have seen dozens of productions adopt the rainbow covers, extending the visual change to both long-running titles and newer arrivals.
Events extend beyond the printed programs. The Broadway Pride Block Party, hosted by Rob Madge, is set for Friday, June 28, 2026, in Times Square. The gathering forms part of the larger NYC Pride calendar and will feature performances from productions including & Juliet, Hamilton, and Wicked.
Playbill.com/pride serves as the central online hub for announcements about participating shows and related programming. The site has documented the evolution of the Pridebill tradition across recent seasons.
The combined print and digital rollout aligns with June observances across the theater district, where multiple productions incorporate additional Pride-related initiatives into their regular schedules.
