Broadway performers from hit shows will gather in Duffy Square to mark Juneteenth with live music and dance. The event highlights the contributions of Black artists to the theater community each year.
The sixth annual Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth concert takes place on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. The free outdoor event proceeds rain or shine in the heart of Times Square. Crowds typically fill the area early for the popular program that features song and dance numbers from current productions.
Corbin Bleu, star of The Great Gatsby, serves as host. The Broadway League presents the concert in partnership with Black Theatre United and BTC: Building the Change through its Black to Broadway initiative. Bleu has long supported efforts to celebrate diversity on stage.
Cast members from more than 17 current Broadway productions will appear. Confirmed shows include & Juliet, CATS: The Jellicle Ball, Hadestown, Hamilton, MJ, Ragtime, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, and Wicked. Organizers will announce additional performers later. The lineup showcases a wide range of talent from across the Great White Way.
The 2026 Juneteenth Legacy Award goes to Debbie Allen. The director, choreographer, actress, producer, and arts advocate receives the honor for her decades of work that shaped film, television, and stage. Allen has inspired generations of performers through her teaching and creative projects.
The Broadway League stated in its announcement: "The Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative, in partnership with Black Theatre United and BTC: Building The Change, announces the sixth annual Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth." The statement emphasizes ongoing commitment to inclusion and recognition of Black excellence in theater.
The concert continues a series that began in 2021 to recognize Black artistry, culture, and community on Broadway. Past editions have drawn large crowds to the same Times Square location. Each year the program grows in scope while staying true to its mission of celebration and remembrance.
Attendees can arrive early to secure viewing space. No tickets are required for the 90-minute program. The gathering offers an opportunity for the public to enjoy performances in an iconic New York setting that draws visitors from around the world.
