Kathy Griffin insists on reading Barbra Streisand's memoir during her Broadway comedy show run.
The Emmy and Grammy winner joins the rotating cast of Celebrity Autobiography for eight performances at the Shubert Theatre from June 18 to June 22, 2026.
Griffin has made reciting excerpts from Streisand's memoir verbatim a dealbreaker for her participation.
She previously appeared in the Los Angeles production of the show.
"This is what I do!" Kathy Griffin, comedian, said. "I’m the D-list celebrity who makes fun of A-list celebrities and celebrity behavior."
Celebrity Autobiography debuted off-Broadway in 2008 and features performers reading actual passages from celebrity memoirs by figures including Gwyneth Paltrow and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"I think the audience really appreciates that we’re reading these books verbatim," Kathy Griffin, comedian, said. "So they get good laughs and something totally different. It’s a fun night out."
Griffin shared her comments during a phone interview from Malibu while walking her dogs before traveling to New York.
The comedian frequently draws material from encounters with celebrities such as Warren Beatty, Sean Penn and Kim Kardashian.
Her limited Broadway engagement extends that style of humor into a theater format centered on direct readings of published celebrity stories.
